About Dr. Krieff

Donald S. Krieff, D.O., F.A.C.O.S., is a board certified neurosurgeon at Neurological Surgery P.C. based in West Islip, NY with nearly 20 years of experience. The F.A.C.O.S. designation after Dr. Krieff’s name signifies that he is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and meets their stringent standards in the areas of education and training, competence as a surgeon, professional credentials and ethical conduct.

The Long Island neurosurgeon treats adult and pediatric patients and is proficient in both complex cranial and spinal surgery. His career-long experience using microsurgical techniques continues to lead to excellent patient outcomes.

Dr. Krieff’s Long Island neurosurgery group sees a high volume of patients. As a result, he and his fellow neurosurgeons have extensive experience treating both common and rare neurological diseases with the latest minimally invasive techniques.

A highly acclaimed neurosurgeon, Dr. Krieff is down-to-earth with his patients and has a common-sense approach to medical problems. “People with back and neck problems have often been in pain for a long time and are seeking relief,” he explains. “We’re not looking to operate on patients just because we can. We want patients to get better and if that simply means nonsurgical management, that’s great. Surgery is reserved for the cases which have failed extensive conservative care.”

Dr. Donald S. Krieff’s current appointments include:

Clinical Adjunct Professor in Neurosurgery at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine
Residency Evaluation and Standards Committee member for the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons
Neurological Surgery Board Examiner
Clinical Instructor in Neurosurgery, Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Krieff has lectured at surgical and pediatric departments as well as the Nassau County Paramedics on many topics including:

“The Role of the Neurosurgeon on the Stroke Team”
“Contemporary Management of Head Injury”
“Contemporary Management of Traumatic Spinal Injuries”
