Michelle Almaliah is a certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from Binghamton University and her Masters degree in Nursing from Hunter-Bellevue School Nursing.
As a registered nurse, Mrs. Almaliah worked in the neuro-surgical ICU at New York University Hospital for seven years. Upon completion of her Masters degree she worked as Nurse practitioner for an Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and as Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner at New York University Hospital.
Mrs Almaliah has over twelve years experience in caring for brain and spine patients. Her strong knowledge base of neurosurgery enables her to deliver compassionate care.
Jaime Aubel, RPA-C is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed and registered with the State of New York. She is also FCCS, ACLS & BLS certified. Ms. Aubel graduated from Nassau Community College with an Associates degree in Math & Science in 2000. She went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at St. John’s University in 2003. In addition to her experience as a Neurosurgical PA, Ms. Aubel has worked in General Surgery, with experience in many surgical subspecialties. She also has experience in Critical Care and Neurosurgical Critical Care, and was trained in Neurosurgical Critical Care at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Ms. Aubel has been practicing as a PA for the last 8 years. She joined the NSPC team in March of 2011 and provides services to many of the hospitals in Nassau and Suffolk county.
Terri Booth obtained her Bachelors degree in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati and her Masters degree in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is ACLS and BLS certified. She is licensed as a registered nurse and adult nurse practitioner in New York and Ohio. She is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State and The New York State Society of Physician Assistants. She has a strong clinical background in critical care nursing and cardiology with her current focus being in neurosurgery, specifically spine.
Keith M. Burger
Keith M. Burger, RPA-C, is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and has achieved special recognition in Surgery. In addition, he is licensed and registered with the State of New York. Keith is the Chief Physician Assistant in Suffolk County for Neurological Surgery, P.C. (NSPC) with privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, Huntington Hospital and St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center.
Mr. Burger received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook in 1994 and later graduated magna cum laude from the Physician Assistant Program at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in 2002. While at NYIT, he was inducted as a member of the Nu Ypsilon Tau Honor Society and achieved the Presidential Honor List.
His professional career as an Allied Healthcare Provider initially involved work in Advanced Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine before it later evolved to Neurosurgery. Relevant neurosurgical experience was obtained at the Nassau University Medical Center, Nassau County’s busiest Level I trauma center, primarily under the guidance of Dr. Donald S. Krieff. He served there as the Chief Physician Assistant for the Division of Neurosurgery for approximately 4 years prior to joining NSPC.
Michelle Capanzano, PA-C, MPAS is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is registered in the state of New York. Ms. Capanzano received a bachelors of science in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. During this time, she also served for the volunteer ambulance corps in her community. She continued her education by obtaining a Masters Degree from the Physician Assistant Program at SUNY Stony Brook. Ms. Capanzano began her career at a neurology practice in 2012, which helped build a good foundation of knowledge for her current position at NSPC. She has been with the practice since 2014 where she offers her services at several hospitals in Suffolk County.
Lauren is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) In addition, she is licensed and registered with the State of New York and New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Science and her Masters in Physician Assistant studies from Wagner College in 2011.
Her professional career originally involved working in sub-specialty surgery which guided her into her career in neurosurgery.
She joined NSPC in 2013 and holds privileges at many of the Nassau County hospitals.
Michael J Dawson
Michael Dawson’s physician assistant career has always been in neurosurgery. Since graduating from Pace University/ Lenox Hill Hospital’s Physician Assistant Program in 2000, he has gained a rich experience in evaluation, diagnosis and care of neurological problems in the hospital setting. He has worked side by side with neurosurgeons from a multitude of subspecialties, neuro-intensivists, and neurologists. Mr. Dawson has become integral in the coordination of care among medical doctors and their various disciplines, physical therapists, social workers, and of course, his mid-level colleagues. He holds privileges at a number of Nassau and Suffolk County hospitals. However, he spends the majority of his time at South Nassau Communities Hospital, Oceanside, NY.
In 2004 he completed a rigorous two-year hands-on Master’s Degree training program at America’s first Physician Assistant Program, Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia. In 2007 Mr. Dawson became the second physician assistant to join the rapidly expanding Neurological Surgery, P.C., and has since become co-director of the Nassau County PAs. In 2011, he joined the adjunct faculty at New York Institute of Technology, teaching neurology to physician assistant students. He also has a career interest in trigger point therapy.
