StabiLink Spinal Stabilization System Poster 1.0 scaled

(Rockville Centre, NY – August 18, 2022) Macon, GA-based Southern Spine, LLC, has announced the first surgical implantation of the firm’s StabiLink Interlaminar Fixation System in the greater New York Metropolitan area by neurosurgeon Stephen Onesti M.D., F.A.C.S. of NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery (NSPC) and pain medicine expert Jacob Rauchwerger M.D. of Long Island Pain Consultants.

“We are excited to have Drs. Onesti and Rauchwerger as the first physicians in the greater New York Metropolitan area to bring the StabiLink Interlaminar Fixation System to their patients” said John E. Hart, CEO of Southern Spine. “The collaboration between NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery and Long Island Pain Consultants helps to provide their patients with the latest in spine treatment options.” Both NSPC and Long Island Pain Consultants are headquartered on Long Island in Rockville Centre, NY.

Dr. Onesti points out that he and Dr. Rauchwerger “felt that StabiLink offered many benefits over traditional interspinous distraction techniques.  It provides rigid fixation of the interspace to maintain distraction and allows for arthrodesis to provide fusion for long-term stability.  Overall, we were very pleased with StabiLink and plan to offer it to appropriate patients in the future.

Southern Spine says that “patients and physicians are demanding procedures that fill the void between non-surgical spine treatments and the more traditional, invasive spinal fusion procedures. The StabiLinkÒ MIS Interlaminar Fixation System successfully addresses this “void” in treatment options for many patients and physicians.” According to the company, “the main benefit of the patented StabiLink® Interlaminar Fixation System is the placement between the spinous processes on the lamina, and away from the neural elements including the spinal cord and spinal nerves. Patients who select to undergo a procedure with the StabiLink® Interlaminar Fixation System may experience less pain, reduced operative time, and less blood loss when compared with those undergoing more invasive spinal procedures.”
