The 44 illustrated cases presented in the new Case Studies of NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery collection were selected from among a portfolio of case summaries written and edited by 16 members of the medical staff of NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery, a Long Island-based neurosurgical group.
These summaries were originally shared with New York metro area doctors, nurses, chiropractors, and other healthcare providers as online posts and weekly “eBlasts.” Each of the authors participated in the care of the patients featured in the cases.
The Case Studies of NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery by Choi, Mangla and Pile-Spellman is a joy to read and a valuable resource for neurointerventionalists. The efforts by the authors to distill the essential learning points in each case provides the reader with a high-yield and highly relevant introduction to neurointerventional surgery.
I am truly impressed with all 44 illustrated cases: how the various neurovascular disease states are categorized into 10 concise chapters, and how each of the authors summarized the key learning points at the end of each case series.
What Is Included in the Case Study Book?
The book’s ten, reader-friendly chapters highlight the treatment of neurological diseases that are frequently addressed by the NSPC specialists. They include “Acute Ischemic Stroke,” “Moyamoya Syndrome,” “Surgery for Degenerative Spine Diseases,” “Neoplastic Processes of the Brain and Spine,” and “Trauma and Infection of Head and Spine.”
According to NSPC's CEO, Dr. Michael H. Brisman, “the cases presented in this book confirm our practice’s mission to provide the best neurovascular and neurosurgical care with compassion and consideration for the special needs of each person.”
