NSPC Neurosurgeon Ramin Rak Elected Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center
(Rockville Centre, NY – December 16, 2025) Ramin Rak M.D., F.A.A.N.S., F.C.N.S., an attending neurosurgeon and senior partner at NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery (NSPC) has been elected Chief of the Department of Neurosurgery at Smithtown-based St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, an affiliate of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. Dr. Rak will begin his new role on January 1, 2026.
Founded in 1962 as St. John’s Smithtown Hospital, St. Catherine’s has grown to become one of Suffolk County’s leading centers for advanced, multi-specialty health care and is a major regional, clinical campus for postgraduate training for the New York Institute of Technology’s college of medicine, one of the nation’s largest medical schools.
Dr. Rak a is board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of adult brain tumors and skull base diseases, as well as degenerative and traumatic spinal conditions. He’s expert at performing minimally invasive, complex spine surgery and has been practicing on Long Island with NSPC for nearly 20 years.
In 2020, Dr. Rak was appointed the Director/Liaison of Neurological Trauma at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside. He has served as president of both the Suffolk County Medical Society (SCMS) and the New York State Neurosurgical Society (NYSNS).
