About Dr. Grewal

Jai Grewal, M.D. is a board certified neuro-oncologist who completed his neuro-oncology fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Following medical school, he completed an internal medicine internship at Griffin Hospital in Connecticut, which is affiliated with Yale University. He then finished a neurology residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern.

His clinical practice includes management of patients with primary and metastatic tumors of the brain and spine. These include glioblastoma, astrocytoma, oliodendroglioma, ependymoma, meningioma, lymphoma, as well as other diagnoses. Dr. Grewal has a particular interest in central nervous system metastases resulting from cancers of the lung, breast, kidneys, melanoma, and lymphoma. He has an interest in utilizing multi-modality treatment options, including surgical options, limited-field radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, as well as standard and experimental chemotherapy.

Dr. Grewal personally supervises traditional and targeted chemotherapy which may be administered intravenously, by mouth, into cerebrospinal fluid, and directly into the tumor. In addition to the treatment of tumors, he has an interest in developing strategies to preserve quality of life. He frequently collaborates with specialists in neurosurgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology, neuropsychology, neuropathology, and neuroradiology in order to improve outcomes and minimize side effects.

He is the principal investigator, leading several active clinical trials, and an executive board member of the American Cancer Society (Nassau County, NY region). Dr. Grewal is also an active member of many area neuro-oncology tumor boards and hospital cancer committees. He has authored numerous publications and is frequently an invited speaker at universities and hospitals nationwide.

Dr. Grewal is a member of the following associations: Society of Neuro-Oncology (SNO), American Academy of Neurology (AAN), American Medical Association (AMA), Nassau County Medical Society (NCMS), and Suffolk County Medical Society (SCMS). He’s fluent in Spanish.
