What Is Artificial Disc Arthroscopy?

Artificial disc arthroscopy (or Artificial Disc Replacement) is a surgical procedure to remove a damaged or diseased disc and replace it with a man-made vertebral disc. The procedure is also known as Total Disc Replacement (TDR) or Total Disc Arthroplasty (TDA). The spinal discs are the cushions between the vertebrae that help absorb shock and provide flexibility to the spine. When a disc becomes damaged or diseased, it can cause pain, weakness, and numbness in the back, neck, arms, or legs.

What Conditions Does Artificial Disc Arthroscopy Treat?

Damaged or diseased discs can be caused by conditions such as degenerative disc disease or disc herniation.
